Roofing is a complex part of the building process requiring different tools, materials, and techniques. Berlet Roofing understands exactly what your building needs. We’ve completed hundreds of projects using only the highest-quality materials and innovative techniques because we know that building or repairing a sturdy roof involves much more than nailing shingles in a straight line. Berlet Roofing uses a unique step-by-step process that includes a thorough inspection and an attention to detail that no other Colorado roofing company can provide.

BerletRoofing - Roof DiagramOur re-roofing process is as follows:

  1. Prepping for the tear-off
The first step in the re-roofing process is the preparation. Doing a little prep work on the ground will help keep nails and other debris out of the grass and flower beds, reduce cleanup time and preserve the landscaping. We will protect your surrounding areas in a variety of ways including placing tarps over shrubs, flowers, and grassy areas. We will provide a trash container placed as close to the home as possible in order to limit the amount of debris on the ground. The trash will be removed from the roof as needed and from the ground daily. We pride ourselves on leaving a home in good condition before we leave each day.
  2. Remove the existing roofing materials
We start the re-roofing process with the removal of the existing roofing materials. We will start the tear-off at the section farthest from the trash container. Standing at the peak, we use a specially notched roofing shovel to tear away the ridge caps and the top course of shingles. From the peak, we will continue down in order to remove all the existing roofing materials. (*Special note: The roof may not be completely bare to the plywood in all sections. Ice & Water shield is designed to stay and is very difficult to remove.) Once all the existing materials are removed we inspect the roof surface to make sure the structure is sound and there are no nails protruding.
  3. Application of the Ice & Water barrier
The application of the ice & water barrier is the final prep step before shingling. It consists of installing an ice & water barrier on the entire roof surface (*Special note: Not all roofs will have complete ice & water coverage. Insurance will only replace what code requires. Felt paper will be used in all other areas.)This underlayment acts as a temporary weather barrier to keep the weather out. Shingles will cover this ice & water barrier making a complete roofing system.
  4. Metal Work
The next part of the roofing process involves extensive metal work. The team at Berlet Roofing has perfected the technique of installing metal drip edge around the perimeter of the roof and ensuring that each corner is properly mitered. This is very important for creating a sturdy and even roof, and we use the best methods in the industry to ensure that everything is lined properly. This reduces the risk of leaks, cracks, and dents caused by environmental effects and any pressure on the roof.
  5. BerletRoofing- NailGunApplication of Shingles
Berlet Roofing is known for its attention to detail and high-quality workmanship. Much of this is attributed to how we apply the shingles to the roof. We use several techniques to ensure that just the right number of shingles is used to create the roof and that the nails are in the ideal position. This can only be accomplished by professionals in the industry, and we pride ourselves on using a winning formula to create the strongest, most attractive roof. During the installation of the shingles, we will also be doing the flashing and vent installations. This step is another integral step in creating a watertight roofing system.
  6. Cleanup and Inspection
The final step in the re-roofing process involves the last inspection and cleanup. The team at Berlet Roofing takes the time to make sure that the roof meets our high standards, and we will clean up the construction site after the work is complete. The final inspection ensures that we have not missed any critical details and that we can stand behind our final product and our commitment to you.
